Felix Hernandez could've been in Boston.
It's been a fun start to the week on baseball social media, as former front office members are sharing some war stories involving trades that nearly got done back in the day.
One deal would've landed the Boston Red Sox a Cy Young winner and changed the course of baseball history.
Shared by Zack Scott, the proposed deal would've brought Felix Hernandez to Fenway Park.
It was arranged to be a three-way deal. Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez would've gone to Seattle, and prospects like Josh Reddick and Justin Masterson would've gone to San Diego.
But the Mariners eventually decided they couldn't deal King Felix.
Given that Reddick made his MLB debut in 2009, these discussions likely fell earlier in the timeline than that.

Hernandez broke into MLB in 2005 and was an immediate sensation.
He won the Cy Young in 2010, which could've been in a Boston uniform instead.
King Felix finished his career with a 3.42 ERA, which was negatively impacted by a couple bumpy seasons to end his career.
At his peak, Hernandez was the best pitcher in baseball. And he nearly could've been starring for the Red Sox.
