Newcastle United are ready to spend some money - right as the sale of Alexander Isak accelerates. This could finally be it.
Liverpool are certainly eager to sign Alexander Isak. The Reds have had him down as their top target for the entirety of 2025.
The question has always been whether Newcastle United are up for selling. They don't particularly want to, of course, but may feel that the money they receive is just better for them at this stage.

Isak wants to leave, after all. He's keen to move on and with Liverpool willing to put up the cash, Newcastle are in an awkward spot.
The Swede has not featured in their pre-season, sitting out all five friendlies. Eddie Howe has now publicly discussed the situation and he's made it clear that no one really knows if Isak is staying or going.
But The Chronicle's Lee Ryder claims 'insiders' at Newcastle fear Isak has indeed played his final game for the club. Things are accelerating and now there's another sign that things are heading in that direction.
Newcastle United prepare to spend
Newcastle are now putting money on the table. The Athletic is among many saying a deal for Malick Thiaw is close for around €40m.
There are now reports linking them with moves for Nicolas Jackson, Yoane Wissa, Samu Aghehowa as well as the Thiaw signing. In other words, they're feeling spendy and want to make upgrades to the squad.
Now, selling Isak for a record-breaking sum makes it possible to sign all of those players quite comfortably. And that's essentially why we believe this deal will go through.
Newcastle can seriously upgrade their overall squad by selling Isak. Yes, they'd rather keep him but an unhappy Isak vs four solid signings? There's only one winner there, even if it means accepting that the striker won't ever be happy at the club.
With the start of the season closing in, this one is gathering pace. All signs truly point to it going through.
