It was another tough loss for the Sky.
Chicago Sky Coach Reveals Locker Room Vibe After 12th Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Chicago Sky deserve a lot of credit for pushing the league-best Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night. They turned in a commendable effort and nearly scored a huge road win at Target Center against Napheesa Collier and Co.
In the end, however, the Lynx were able to hold on and secure an 80-75 home victory to mark their 17th win of the season.
The Sky, on the other hand, suffered their 12th loss of the season. Head coach Tyler Marsh, however, had some high praise for his team despite the circumstances.
When asked to speak on the type of vibe inside the Chicago locker room after another deflating defeat, Marsh opted to highlight the positives from the game.
"Yeah, I think obviously they're disappointed we come out on the short end, but I think that they're all mature enough and connected enough to understand where the growth has been," he told reporters in his postgame press conference. "And even from this game, this is a tough road environment — even Minnesota playing on the back — this is a tough place to win at.
"For us to continue to be in that game and again, to not let the runs they went on to kinda extend further than they did, and to be able to bounce back, I think it speaks to the level of effort and maturity that this team has and the level of progress we're seeing moving forward."
Marsh isn't saying that his players are over the moon with this moral victory, so to speak, but he's adamant that the squad is looking at the bigger picture here.
"Obviously, it's disappointing, but we got a day to lament over it and we got to get ready for Washington," he said.
As Marsh said, it's a quick turnaround for the Sky. They're back on the court on Tuesday in another road game against the Washington Mystics, where they will be looking to improve on their 5-12 record.
