The Mississippi product, Jase Matthews, is nearing the biggest decision of his young football career—and one thing is certain, his future lies in the SEC.

LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn and Texas A&M are his final four schools, all in pursuit of the dynamic wideout, and it is easy to see why.

Matthews has drawn praise from scouts for his ability to create separation, change of direction, catching ability and being an overall playmaker.

He averaged 113.8 yards and 15 receptions per game last season, which led him to have the fifth most receiving yards in the state of Mississippi, according to MaxPreps.

Matthews spoke on what he likes about each program, and when it came to Ole Miss, there was a clear sense of comfort and familiarity.

"LSU has a great staff. My connection with them is strong and I also love their advanced technology to help their players be great. Ole Miss was my first offer, so that is big and my feelings are always good when I am there. Texas A&M is definitely high on my list too. Coach Wiggins puts guys in the league and develops receivers," Matthews told Rivals.

Ole Miss identified Matthews early, becoming the first school to extend an offer to him in December of 2023, a sign of the staff's vision and trust.

Matthews is among the top uncommitted receivers in the 2026 class, alongside names like Jordan Clay, Jayden Warren and Somourian Wingo.

Although he does not have an official set date, Matthews will not be uncommitted for much longer.

"I am really close to making a decision," Matthews told Rivals. "It is something I am thinking a lot about. My commitment should come before the season starts. I don't have a date set yet, but I am getting close."

As the clock ticks down to his decision, all eyes are on Matthews and the Rebels, who have led the charge from the start.

Ole Miss' early faith and the relationship they've built could be the difference-maker when he commits.
