We selected Venice football coach John Peacock as our Boys Coach of the Year. You chose Sarasota High basketball coach BJ Ivey
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune is proud to honor area high school sports programs with our annual Sarasota-Manatee High School Sports Awards, which was held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota.
Throughout the year, The Herald-Tribune selects an All-Area team in each FHSAA sport. From those teams, we select an overall Boys Coach of the Year.
We chose Venice High football coach John Peacock for the 2024-25 season. We then asked you, our readers, to vote and select the team you think deserved to be the Boys Coach of the Year.
After a week of voting, you selected Sarasota High basketball coach BJ Ivey as the Boys Coach of the Year with 44.76% of the vote. Since taking over as head coach before the 2022-23 season, the former Riverview Ram has compiled a three-year record of 73-12. This season, the Sailors finished 28-3 and reached the Class 7A state semifinals for the first time since 1968.
