Eagles go inside Alumni for practice No. 8

BC scrimmaged for the first time on Saturday morning inside Alumni Stadium. This is now eight practices in the books and the Eagles have a day off before another week of three-in-a-row next week (Tuesday-Thursday). Had to head to a funeral around 10, so here’s everything I saw from 8:47 when I walked in until […]

This is now eight practices in the books and the Eagles have a day off before another week of three-in-a-row next week (Tuesday-Thursday). Had to head to a funeral around 10, so here’s everything I saw from 8:47 when I walked in until then…

OL-DL 1-on-1s

Given where I was sitting in Alumni, OL and DL 1-v-1s were right in front of me, so figured I’d chart those for a change instead of just the 7-on-7. I caught 10 of the reps…

Freshman DE Jayden Fry beats redshirt sophomore Amir Johnson

Redshirt freshman OL Jadon Lafontant holds up against freshman DL Micah Amedee (Xaverian)

Redshirt senior DL Mike Bumpus beats redshirt sophomore Michael Crounse

Kwan Williams beats Johnson

Favor Bate beats Jude Bowry

Freshman Sterling Sanders beats Dwayne Allick

Kevin Cline stands up redshirt freshman Jayden Flint

Redshirt freshman OL Souleye Diawara holds up against LB Palaie Faoa

Eryx Daughtery stands up Sedarius McConnell

Ty Clemons beats Logan Taylor

Team periods

Cool to see how the little things come together. Before the first team period drive, O’Brien was explaining/showing/telling guys where each position group goes during a game day. It’s obviously a very minor detail, but they all matter.

Also noticed a Philly scout in attendance at this point too.

Lonergan: Swing to Turbo, run stuff by Williams, crosser to Harris, no gain on a run by Turbo, run stuff (couldn’t see who), crosser for Bond, short run by McDonald (x2), swing to McDonald, interception for Vaughn Pemberton in the middle of the field. Great hustle by McDonald to chase him down and punch the ball loose at the end though.

James: Short to Brady Clough, swing to Broome, incomplete sideline through for McLaughlin (high), no gain on a run by Broome, tipped interception for Carter Davis

Punt/kickoff work then one more series from James: Incompletion, play action dart to McLaughlin for a first down, sack for Favor Bate, hard run by Broome, crosser for Kaelan Chudzinski

Arjona: Two runs for Mekhi Dodd, (missed third snap), swing to Bo MacCormack, out to Chudzinski, hard run by MacCormack on two straight plays (he may see the field earlier than I thought, ran hard every single day of camp so far and hard to tackle), run stuff by sophomore DL E’Lla Boykin, swing to Dodd, Dodd drops a wide open TD in the left corner, Liam Connor boots a 22-ish yard field goal

2nd bit of team

Saw one more series each for James and Lonergan before I had to head to Roslindale…

James: Omar Thornton snuffs out a run early, deep corner for Skeete, run by McDonald, incomplete looking for Harris deep, out to McLaughlin, punt

Lonergan: Scramble, hard run by McDonald, false start, short pass to Turbo, run stuff senior DL Chuck Naaeto (written his name a couple times now recently, could be a sleeper on the DL), incomplete pass on the sideline

Best news of the day came after practice when O’Brien told the media Owen Stoudmire was released from the hospital and ‘doing a lot better.’ He also said Stoudmire was in team meetings on Friday night, called it a ‘pretty cool moment’ when the defense first saw him and said he ‘thinks there’s a chance’ he’ll be back.

We’re officially three weeks from the opener and it certainly feels like things are progressing nicely across the board.
