It was an emotional moment.
Sky Player Could Not Hold Back Tears After Honest Chicago Admission originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Rachel Banham had her best game in a Chicago Sky uniform on Sunday night. The veteran guard went off for a season-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, six triples, two rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes of action.
It still wasn't enough, though, as the Sky suffered a disappointing 80-75 loss to the Minnesota Lynx to mark their 12th loss of the season.
Banham spoke to reporters after the game, where she received praise for her big-time performance. However, when asked about being the "heart of the team" and the many roles she's been asked to play, the 31-year-old responded with an emotional admission.
"Yeah, I'm just really lucky to be a part of this team, honestly," she said. "I have amazing teammates. My coaches have been incredible.
"It honestly hasn't been that hard because they're just so great for me. They just build me up all the time, and they believe in me in the times when I don't believe in myself, so it really means a lot."
Angel Reese, who was sitting beside Banham during the interview, noticed how her teammate was getting emotional. Reese gave her a hug before Banham carried on with her statement.
"So yeah, it's been really nice just to be believed in and trusted to be that person," she continued. "So I'm having a lot of fun even though we're not winning. I'm having a whole lot of fun with my teammates and that matters."

Banham apologized for being emotional as she wiped away her tears, but the reporters made it clear that they appreciated her vulnerability.
Banham is no star, but she's played a pivotal role for Chicago in her first full season with the team. As she said, the Sky may be in the midst of another forgettable season, but she's very happy with the teammates she has around her.
