The Chicago Sky came close to pulling off a major upset against the league-best Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night. Unfortunately for them, Chicago's concerted team effort still fell short against Napheesa Collier and Co.

In the end, the Lynx were able to hold on and secure an 80-75 victory, improving to 17-2 on the season.

The Sky, on the other hand, suffered their 12th loss in 17 games played this season. Not even Angel Reese's 16-point, 17-rebound double-double with six assists and a block was enough to carry them through.

After the game, Reese sent a defiant message amid the loss. According to the newly crowned two-time All-Star, she's proud of how hard her team has battled through adversity. Reese also expressed her belief that they've continued to show signs of improvement despite their slump.

"Fighting through everything — from the beginning of the season to now, we've had injuries, different rotations, different starting lineups and everybody has adjusted and just came up and stepped up.," Reese said in her postgame interview.

"I'm really proud of our team just being so resilient with everything that we've been thrown, the punches that we've been thrown. The expectations have been really high for us, and I think we continue to thrive through."

Reese is taking this loss in stride, hoping it will serve as another valuable learning lesson for the Sky.

"I just know we’re going to continue to grow from this, and we know we can," she said.

Chicago gets an immediate opportunity to make up for Sunday's loss. They return to action on Tuesday in another road game against the Washington Mystics, with an early tip-off time at 11:30 a.m. ET.
