To the surprise of no one, the Adidas release has been popular.

Liverpoolhave started their new partnership with Adidas as kit supplier by selling more home and away shirts than ever before.

The sales since the kit launch last week (which did not include the as-yet-unreleased third shirt, rumored to be the ever-popular teal) managed an increase of 700% in orders when compared to last season’s orders in this period. Of course, the fact that the kits are available in both long and short sleeve versions adds to their appeal: Adidas is nostalgic for many, and the sleeve length is as well. The club has recorded orders from 150 different countries as of August 8th as well, speaking to the global popularity of the new kits.

While the brick and mortar shops in Liverpool — the recently refurbished shop next to Anfield as well as the shop in town — were remarkably busy with sales, most of the business (80%) was done online.

One of the club’s new signings, Florian Wirtz, sold the most shirts, with the number seven’s arrival adding to the anticipation of the return of Adidas.

The second best selling shirt is a meaningful one: in the name of Liverpool’s late striker Diogo Jota. The club has stated that all profits from shirts with ‘Diogo J. 20’ on the back will go to the LFC Foundation, and money will be used to start a grassroots football program in Jota’s name. The club continues with classy touches honoring the striker whose passing has had a major impact both locally and globally.
