Javier Mascherano has made Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami's objective clear after their elimination from the Club World Cup.
Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami bagged a 4-1 win against CF Montreal in the Major League Soccer on June 5 at Saputo Stadium.
Messi scored a brace and provided an assist in Inter Miami's first match since their elimination from the Club World Cup, where they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16.
While the Club World Cup elimination was hard on the Herons, head coach Javier Mascherano has revealed what Inter Miami aim to achieve this season.
The Argentine manager stated that Inter Miami's 'motivation' now is competing in the MLS and lifting the cup, something Inter Miami are yet to achieve.
What did Inter Miami boss Javier Mascherano say?
Mascherano spoke about Inter Miami's objective to 'qualify for the play-offs' to bring home the MLS Cup for the first time in the club's history and said,
"Our motivation now is to compete in our league, and to achieve something this club has been aiming for year after year. We want to get as far as we can, qualify for the play-offs, be in position to have home field advantage, and from there we’ll see what happens at the end of October," as per GOAL.

Mascherano also spoke about squad management with Inter Miami's packed schedule in the upcoming months.
"Clearly, we have a lot of games coming up, plus all the ones we have already played, so we will need everyone to participate. We’ll see how we can manage some roster changes without feeling it too much because I don’t like to change six or seven players from one match to the other."
Inter Miami are currently sixth in the MLS table with 32 points in 17 matches. The Herons will lock horns with New England Revolution next in the league on July 9, at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.
