Texas adds a running back to the 2025 roster

Stanford running back Carson Berger is listed on the Texas Longhorns’ 2025 online roster. Berger, a member of the class of 2023 out of The Woodlands (Texas) John Cooper, was part of the Cardinal’s 2023 squad. He was listed as a 6-foot-0, 216-pound linebacker by Stanford in 2023. He was not on their 2024 roster.

Texas lists Berger as a sophomore. His height and weight is 5-foot-11, 193 pounds. His bio only states “a first-year, walk-on running back who played the 2023 season at Stanford.

He joins a room that features scholarship backs like CJ Baxter, Quintrevion Wisner, Christian Clark, Jerrick Gibson, Rickey Stewart Jr., and James Simon. Senior Colin Page is the only member of the walk-on corps in Chad Scott’s position group and is in his final year of eligibility.

Berger was a two-time SPC state champion in the 3A division that features schools like Houston Christian, Trinity Valley, Fort Worth Country Day, Oakridge, Greenhill, Cistercian, and St. Andrews. He was also the SPC linebacker of the year in 2022. Berger was selected to the Houston Chronicle’s 2022 All-Greater Houston private school team.

Walk-ons currently on the Texas roster include Carson Marshall, McCoy Bruce, Graham Gillespie, Ziky Umeozulu, Jackson Duffey, Isaiah Coleman, Tate Haver, Spencer Barnett, Brady Sarkisian, Eric Garza, Rick McBroom, Robert Sweeney, Brooks Kieschnick Jr., Gehrig Heil, Joe Tatum, Luke Dunham, Ridge Barker, Rett Andersen, Quinn Merritt, Remy Patson, Hamilton McMartin, Bryce Chambers, Hudson Powell, and Ty Boatright.
