Decision day has arrived for one of South Carolina’s top remaining targets in the 2026 class.

Blountstown (Fla.) High class of 2026 four-star running back Amari Thomas will announce his decision today at around 3 p.m. from finalists Colorado, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and the Gamecocks.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pounder decommitted from Florida State in the middle of July.

South Carolina had been working Thomas to flip for some time despite that commitment and he took an official visit to Columbia in June, a trip he gave strong reviews.

“South Carolina should be a playoff team, they should have got in last year,” he told Rivals’ John Garcia Jr. earlier this month. “I loved the official visit, and it was at night time.”

Gamecocks running backs coach Marquel Blackwell is his recruiter of record.

Rivals considers him a four-star prospect and the No. 184 overall prospect and No. 18 running back in the 2026 class. He is the No. 25 prospect in Florida.

The recruiting industry isn’t quite as high on Thomas. The Rivals Industry Ranking considers him the No. 436 overall prospect and No. 28 running back in the class and a three-star prospect.

As a junior, Thomas rushed for 1,880 yards and 34 touchdowns for an average of 12.3 yards per carry
