Dallas Center-Grimes senior Taitn Gray was named captain of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association 2025 all-state "Super Team," announced by the IHSBCA recently.

Gray, who was picked by the Tampa Bay Rays in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft, hit .479 with 12 home runs, seven doubles, three triples and 38 RBI this past year for the Mustangs.

Joining Gray on the super team were Bo Collingwood of Pleasant Valley, Tate Slagle from Algona, Will Pierro and Will Specht of Dubuque Wahlert, Anderson Schirm and Isiah Kettler of Pella, Jax Theeler and Cal Jepsen from Sioux City East, Drake Obermueller of Iowa City High, Will Morris from Ankeny Centennial, Wrigley Matthys of Bettendorf, Drew Owen from North Polk, Braylon Bingham of Pleasantville, Jayce Schwiesow from Saint Ansgar and Underwood's Garrett Luett.

Captain status for Matthys in Class 4A, Slagle in 3A, Bingham and Luett in 2A, and Schwiesow in 1A. 

Matthys hit .514 this past year with three home runs, 10 triples, eight doubles and 66 runs scored. He also stole 54 bases with an on-base percentage of .602 and a slugging percentage of .779.

Slagle, a University of Iowa commit, hit .505 with 10 homers and 15 doubles, driving in 46 and scoring 47 runs. He was also 6-2 on the mound with 115 strikeouts and  1.03 earned run average.

Bingham hit .459 with seven homers and 52 RBI, scoring 58 runs while stealing 54 bases to go along with a 9-0 record on the mound and 72 strikeouts. Luett, committed to Iowa, hit a state-leading .603 with 21 extra-base hits and 46 runs scored while going 11-0 on the mound with 128 strikeouts.

Schwiesow sports a .448 batting average with 25 RBI, 26 runs scored, 18 steals and an 8-1 record with 104 strikeouts.
