A new Chelsea signing has named the players who convinced him to join the Blues.

Jamie Gittens Borussia Dortmund 05102025

After a long series of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea have finally announced the signing of Jamie Gittens from the German side.

The youngster has penned a seven-year contract with the Blues as Enzo Maresca continues to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

Without a doubt, the 20-year-old winger fits the Blues’ transfer policy of being a highly-rated youngster with huge potential.

The Englishman has returned home after spending his entire senior club career so far in German football.

However, he spent time in the academies of Manchester City, Reading, and Chelsea before joining Dortmund in 2020.

Gittens was pictured in attendance during Chelsea’s weekend victory against Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarter-finals.

What Gittens said about joining Chelsea

During his first interview as a Chelsea player, Gittens shared that Blues stars Cole Palmer and Liam Delap have been text messaging, urging him to join them at Stamford Bridge.

He played with the duo in the Man City academy, and now they will all be reunited in West London.

Gittens said via Chelsea’s official website: “I played with Cole at Under-16s and Under-18s, and Liam the same. And I’ve played against Levi (Colwill) from every single time we’d play against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup, Premier League tournaments, the lot.

“I had a couple of text messages from Cole telling me to come, the same from Liam, and all of them were eager for me to join.”

During the interview, Gittens also revealed his admiration for former Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and Willian.

Gittens said, “I did watch Chelsea when I was younger. Not in the stadium but on the TV at home in Reading, during the time of the Eden Hazard era. Eden was the clear player for me at that time. I liked Willian as well, another attacker. He had that little shimmy he did, I liked that.”
