She kept it real.
A'ja Wilson Shares Embarrassing Truth After Falling to Indiana Fever Without Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces got back to winning ways on Sunday with a dominant 86-68 win over a now 2-16 Connecticut Sun side.
Wilson, who was recently named an All-Star for the seventh time in her career, led the charge for the Aces on Sunday, scoring a game-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, to go along with three rebounds, two steals and four blocks in just 24 minutes of action.
Wilson spoke to reporters after the game, and she sent a strong message about her team's performance against Connecticut. The three-time WNBA MVP, however, could not help but look back at Las Vegas' 81-54 blowout loss against a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever side on Thursday.
"I mean, we got embarrassed against Indiana," Wilson said, via Alexa Philipou of ESPN. "We understood that we didn't want to go down that road anymore. We get tired of being in that space.
"So for this game, and hopefully moving forward, we find our joy in the game. And particularly the defensive end, we got stops. ... That's how we got rocking and rolling, and that's what we're going to have to continue to do."
It is clear that Wilson and Co. used their loss to the Fever, who are still missing Clark due to a lingering groin injury, as motivation for them in Sunday's game. As Wilson said, they were utterly embarrassed by a shorthanded Indiana side, and Las Vegas made sure that this wasn't going to be the case against the Sun.
The Aces will want to take this momentum as they head into their next game. They have a tough test coming up on Tuesday when they battle Breanna Stewart and the defending champions, the New York Liberty, in a road game in Brooklyn.
Las Vegas, though, gets the opportunity to make a statement — and potentially mark a turning point in their 9-9 season — if they are able to upset the odds and take down the champs.
