West Milford High School and the WM Athletics Hall of Fame will host a watch party on Aug. 10 for Jen Pawol's first MLB game behind home plate.

The event will begin with a noon tailgate followed by a watch party for the 1:35 p.m. game between the Atlanta Braves and Florida Marlins, West Milford athletic director Joe Trentacosta said.

Pawol, a former All-State softball and soccer star for West Milford, is set to become the first woman to umpire a regular-season Major League Baseball game when she umpires both games of an Aug. 9 doubleheader. She returns the following day for her first game calling balls and strikes.

Pawol, 48, has spent the last nine years climbing the umpiring ladder. She began her professional career in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League in 2016 and worked her way through the New York-Penn, Midwest, South Atlantic, Eastern and Pacific Coast leagues.

Jen Pawol will be MLB's first woman umpire.

She reached Triple-A in 2023 and became the first woman to umpire that level’s championship game.
