Manchester United and RB Leipzig will meet in the coming hours in hopes of hashing out a full agreement for the transfer of Benjamin Sesko.
Given that Sesko has already given his full approval to the move, it’s now up to the two clubs to agree on a transfer fee that satisfies the Bundesliga outfit.
The Red Devils submitted their initial £73.8 million bid on Tuesday – less than 24 hours after Newcastle United made an improved proposal of £78.3 million, which was accepted by Leipzig. However, when the player then made it clear he wanted a summer switch to Old Trafford over St. James’ Park, Leipzig were cornered into granting his wishes.

Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg shared today that a new round of talks is ‘scheduled for this morning’, with all parties keen to finalise a deal as swiftly as possible. Whilst not an ‘easy’ transfer to negotiate, there is a sense of optimism that the 22-year-old will end up joining United.
He would then follow Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as Ruben Amorim’s third signing of the window to form a completely revitalised frontline for the season ahead.
Reinforcements were crucial following a campaign in which United netted just 44 Premier League goals and finished 15th. With no European football to account for in 2025/2026, pressure will be heaped on Amorim to oversee a considerably better term by finishing amongst those at the top end of the table – and perhaps even winning some silverware.

Assuming the Slovenian international does indeed sign, it will throw Rasmus Hojlund’s future into question.
Reports have recently suggested that Hojlund, 22, would be sold if a new centre-forward was brought in, whilst he is also said to be resigned to being sold against his wishes.
