The suspect accused of throwing a green dildo at a fan at WNBA game on Tuesday has been identified and is facing charges. Kaden Lopez, 18, is accused of hitting someone with the sex toy during the Phoenix Mercury’s game vs. the Connecticut Sun.

According to Trenton Hooker, an executive producer at FOX10 Phoenix, Lopez faces at least two charges including assault and disorderly conduct. Lopez is the latest fan to throw a neon sex toy in what has become an odd trend in the association during recent weeks. However, in this instance, Hooker noted that there is no indication that the dildo made its way onto the court but confirmed it struck another fan.

As noted, this is not an isolated incident. There was even another instance of a fan on the same night doing the same thing with another green sex toy during the Indiana Fever’s road game against the Los Angeles Sparks. Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham was almost hit with it.

Cunningham’s incident marked the third time in the last week that a fan threw a sex toy at the players during a WNBA game. With 2:05 to go in the second quarter, the green object landed just in front of Cunningham after a free throw, nearly hitting her.

Since the dildo never made its way on the court during the game in Phoenix, it’s unclear when during the game Lopez pulled out the plastic appendage. However, it has landed the 18-year-old with some real life consequences.

Tuesday’s pair of games marked one week since the first time a fan threw a green sex toy onto the court, which came during a matchup between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream. The second instance also took place during a Golden State game, happening on the road in Chicago during a game against the Sky.

The WNBA later announced the fan who threw the first one was arrested afterward. Additionally, the league said any person who throws an object onto the court in the future will be ejected from the arena and face a minimum ban of one year. This will apply to each of the four culprits over the past week.

“The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans,” the WNBA said in a statement.

“In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.”
