The Texas Longhorns are gearing up for the 2025 college football season, looking to take the next step after back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinal losses. This will be Arch Manning’s first season as the full-time starter, following a redshirt year in 2023 and a backup role behind Quinn Ewers in 2024.

On Monday, the Longhorns received a mix of positive and negative news as they continued fall camp ahead of their Week 1 opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The positive news: they were ranked No. 1 overall in the preseason Coaches Poll. The negative: offensive lineman Andre Cojoe is feared to have suffered a torn ACL, per Inside Texas.

What This Means For the Texas Offense

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian had to rebuild most of his offensive line this offseason, replacing four of five starters from last year’s group. Coming into fall camp, the only spot without a clear-cut favorite was right tackle—where Cojoe had been battling Brandon Baker for the starting job.

Now, with Cojoe likely out for the season, Baker appears to be the man to protect Manning's strong side.

It was just last week when Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood shared his excitement about the competition between Cojoe and Baker.

“Yeah, it’s definitely going to be a camp battle for sure,” Flood said. “We’ve got a couple of guys who have been playing there in the spring in Andre Cojoe and Brandon Baker who have done a really nice job. Both of those guys have changed their bodies, improved their skill sets. We’ll figure out in training camp how that all plays out, but I think one of the advantages we have is we’re going to play against a really talented EDGE group in training camp. I think these guys are going to get challenged on a day-to-day basis. I know it’s going to come fast, but right now we’re at the beginning of it. Both guys are going to go out and compete and we’ll see how it plays out through training camp.”

Andre Cojoe's Football Journey

Cojoe grew up in Arlington, Texas, and attended Mansfield Timberview High School, where he was named an All-American and a two-time all-district honoree. He went on to play in the 2022 U.S. Army Bowl. The 6-foot-6, 335-pound lineman was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 78 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2023 by 247Sports.

Cojoe, now a redshirt sophomore at Texas, didn't see any game action during his freshman season but made four appearances in 2024: Colorado State (8/31), UTSA (9/14), ULM (9/21) and Florida (11/9).
