Mark Pope sets up Brady Bunch challenge for Jayden Quaintance ahead of driving exam

Remember when Marcia and Greg competed in a driving obstacle course on The Brady Bunch? Don’t crush the egg!

Now, Mark Pope is bringing that same challenge to Kroger Field for Kentucky‘s prized portal addition, Jayden Quaintance, who will be taking his driver’s test on Thursday. Joined by his teammates (along with Lexington police), the 18-year-old was tasked with driving through traffic cones before taking on a three-point turn and two separate egg tests. First, he had to get as close to a cone as he could without knocking off the egg on top. Then, he had to do the same with another — but backward.

“We’ve set up The Brady Bunch Driving Challenge, complete with the egg test. How are you feeling about this?” Pope asked Quaintance in the Instagram Live video.

“I feel good, man. I’m not gonna lie,” he responded.

“You think you can pull it off?” Pope said.

Quaintance was confident he could, but his teammates weren’t totally sure. Otega Oweh, Jaland Lowe, Collin Chandler, Trent Noah and Zach Tow believed in him while Jasper Johnson, Denzel Aberdeen and Reece Potter did not. Braydon Hawthorne gave him a 50/50 chance to pull it off.

“Say a prayer, BBN,” Pope said.

Lowe started up a new IG Live once Quaintance started driving, but was quickly told to shut it down in case the sophomore big man actually wrecked the Toyota 4Runner he used for the challenge.

Or maybe they were saving him from embarrassment in case he hit cones and crushed eggs?

Either way, the finished product should be released by the UK video and photo teams at some point — assuming things went as planned. Until then, we can chuckle at Pope trying to figure out how to shut off Instagram Live.

If Quaintance drives as well as he plays basketball, he won’t have any issue passing his big exam this week. Can you believe he just turned 18?!
