Bayern Munich have been dealt a massive blow with the news that their young star Jamal Musiala has broken his ankle during their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Official reports confirm that Musiala will be out for around 4-5 months, which means he is set to miss most of the first half of the 2025/26 season.
This injury comes as a big setback for Bayern, who were already struggling to secure attacking midfield reinforcements after failing to sign Florian Wirtz.
Fermin interests Bayern Munich
With Musiala sidelined, Bayern are expected to explore the market for a suitable replacement, and one of the names that has popped up is Barcelona’s talented midfielder Fermin Lopez.
The 21-year-old has impressed many with his performances at Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are reportedly big admirers of his qualities.
His contract with Barcelona runs until 2027, and his price is said to be between €50 and €70 million, a sum Bayern could easily afford if they decide to make a serious move.

At Barcelona, manager Hansi Flick considers Fermin an important part of his plans and does not want the youngster to leave. The Catalan side already has intense competition in midfield, and Fermin knows he must fight for his place.
Despite this, the possibility of a lucrative offer from Bayern Munich could tempt Barcelona into considering a sale, especially given the club’s ongoing financial issues.
Selling Fermin could bring in much-needed funds to help Barcelona strengthen other areas of the squad.
A good sale for sporting reasons
For instance, after missing out on Nico Williams, the club is still actively looking for the right player to add to their attack, particularly someone who can operate as a left-winger.
If their financial situation were better, Barcelona would have already made moves to secure new talent.
Therefore, an attractive bid from Bayern for Fermin could play a key role in Barcelona’s summer transfer plans and help them address their pressing needs on the flanks.
In any case, losing Fermin would mean losing a versatile asset as he has always given his 100% for the team ever since making his debut.
