Joel Klatt delivered his preseason Top 25 earlier this week, ranking Clemson No. 4 in the nation. The FOX Sports analyst is a believer in the Tigers ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Last season, Dabo Swinney’s bunch won the ACC and made it to the College Football Playoff, but they were unceremoniously disposed of by Texas in the First Round. Klatt believes this season’s iteration of Clemson can reach much, much higher, considering the immense talent on their roster.
“All right, at No. 4 — I wanted to put them higher, I just didn’t because I’m going to pump the brakes just a touch. I might not pump them for long, but I’m going to pump them just a touch and put them at No. 4, Clemson. I’ve loved Clemson all off season. Every time we talk about Clemson, I’m like, ‘Clemson’s going to be really good,’ and guess what? Clemson’s going to be really, really good,” Klatt stated, via The Joel Klatt Show.
“They bring back 16 starters, including my best quarterback in the country, Cade Klubnik. They have three legit wide receivers in the outside, Antonio Williams, Bryant Westco and TJ Moore. They also have four starters back on the offensive line. They have huge talent on both sides of the ball. This is not going to be a team led by defense or led by offense, they’re going to be balanced.
“… In the ACC, this team, the Tigers, do not play Miami. Their toughest game in the ACC is probably at Georgia Tech. Maybe at Louisville, or the home game against SMU. This team absolutely is going to play for the ACC Championship. They probably should win the ACC Championship. I think that they’re probably going to have a top-four seed in the College Football Playoff. Watch out for Clemson now.
“I think it’s going to be a fascinating year for Clemson and Dabo to maybe take a victory lap on all of college football. All of us pundits were out there like questioning whether Dabo Sweeney knew what he was doing, and this might be the year where he’s just like, ‘Yes, I know what I’m doing.’”
There will be no rest for the weary when it comes to Clemson this season. They start their season off with a bang, facing LSU in Week 1. If they can make a statement against the SEC program, the rest of the college football world will have no choice but to believe in their potential.
Bet against Dabo Swinney and company at your own risk. Joel Klatt isn’t. We’ll see if he’s right for being high on the Tigers in a few short weeks.
