Making a move for Bradley Beal could be problem.
Heat Warned Against Making Move for Bradley Beal as Buyout Talks Emerge originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Miami Heat were expected to be buyers during this offseason's free agency and trade market, but have been fairly inactive.
While some fans are still holding out hope that there is a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to be made, it seems more likely that the Heat add a complementary piece or two alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
One player that they have been linked to is Phoenix Suns guard, Bradley Beal. The Suns have been looking for a way to part with the three-time All-Star, but his no-trade clause and massive contract have made things awfully complicated. However, with the Suns looking to revamp the roster, they are reportedly open to buying him out.
If that does happen, the Heat are expected to at least kick the tires, but ESPN's Bobby Marks did reveal the complexities that will follow if Miami were to do so when appearing on the "Ryen Russillo Podcast."
"Miami... I think they have all their non-tax ML, which is $14 million," Marks said. "If you sign Bradley Beal to like a one-year $10 million deal, cause you're spending more than $5.7 of that, you’re going to trigger the 1st Apron. I think they’re only $10-$11M below. So you guys have to be careful where your money falls.”
Aside from the financial burden he brings, it does seem fair to question what Beal brings to the table for Miami and whether or not that is good enough to get them in a position to contend.
As for the moves the Heat have made this offseason, they brought back Davion Mitchell on a two-year contract worth $24 million and added Italian forward Simone Fontecchio as part of a sign-and-trade move with the Detroit Pistons.
