🚨 BREAKING: Régis Le Bris signs new long-term deal at Sunderland

Sunderland have confirmed that Head Coach Régis Le Bris has signed a new long-term contract, committing his future to the Wearside club until the summer of 2028.

The announcement comes just weeks before the Black Cats begin their 2025-26 Premier League campaign, having secured promotion in dramatic fashion last season under the guidance of the Frenchman.

Le Bris, 49, arrived at the Stadium of Light in June 2024 following his departure from FC Lorient, and enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in English football. After steering Sunderland to nine victories from their opening 12 fixtures, he was twice named Championship Manager of the Month – in August and October – and ultimately led the side to a fourth-place finish.

His influence was pivotal during the play-offs, as Sunderland claimed a memorable semi-final triumph over Coventry City before dispatching Sheffield United at Wembley in a historic final, sealing their long-awaited return to the Premier League after eight years in the second tier.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Le Bris expressed his pride and optimism: "The connection I have with the staff, players, and supporters has been natural, and we shared many great moments together. The collective ambition is there to see and now, there is a desire to become stronger. I can feel the energy and intent to push forward, and we need that in the next challenges we will face. In every part of the organisation, everyone has their own part to play, and we are all aligned."

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman hailed the renewal as a vital step in the Club’s Premier League preparations. "Like every Sunderland supporter, I’m delighted we are announcing this contract extension for Régis. It provides clarity going into the Premier League season, but more importantly it recognises his contribution and continued commitment to the Club. Régis has an unrelenting desire for progression that matches our own."

Le Bris' extended stay comes at a pivotal time under owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, as Sunderland aim to establish themselves as a Premier League force both on and off the pitch. The Club has been active in the summer transfer window, bringing in eight new faces including Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Chemsdine Talbi, Simon Adingra, Granit Xhaka, and Robin Roefs.

With just under two weeks remaining until their top-flight opener against West Ham United, anticipation is building on Wearside.
