Single-game tickets for FSU home football games set to go on sale for boosters, fans

The college football season is set to being on Saturday, Aug. 23 in this year's Week Zero games. FSU opens at home vs. Alabama on Aug. 30

Florida State football has a strong winning tradition and Doak Campbell Stadium is known for its exciting game-day atmosphere.

Fans are hopeful both will be on display in 2025 as single-game tickets for the Seminoles' seven home games are set to be available for purchase this week (July 8-10).

The college season is set to being on Saturday, Aug. 23 in this year's Week Zero games. Most of the country's Division I programs, including FSU, will start their seasons the following week.

The Seminoles and coach Mike Norvell open at home against Alabama on Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

The showdown marks the first time the Crimson Tide will play in Tallahassee, and it also will be the first game at renovated Doak Campbell Stadium.

The comprehensive overhaul to enhance the fan experience and improve the stadium cost $265 million.

Heat is on FSU football coach Mike Norvell to win in 2025

When hired from Memphis in 2019, Norvell said the plan was to build a foundation that's "going to allow for sustained success moving forward."

The trajectory hasn't gone as planned.

Still, FSU fans are optimistic as Norvell (33-27 overall at FSU, 20-20 in ACC) enters his sixth season with a retooled staff and roster.

Preseason predictions have also ranged from 7 to 9 wins with a potential bowl game.

FSU, of course, is digging out from underneath the rubble of a ruinous 2-10 in 2024 - this after going 13-1 in 2023.

It was the second-largest drop in wins since Southern Miss went from 12-2 in 2011 to 0-12 in 2012.

Norvell promised changes when the season mercifully ended.

"We all have ownership in it, and it's time to go get it right," Norvell said. "We can sit there and talk about it. We can sit there and try to say all the right things, but it's going to come down to the actions."

FSU QB Thomas Castellanos talks smack, earns rave reviews

Transfer quarterback Thomas Castellanos is known for his talent, athleticism, leadership and, as fans are hearing about, confidence.

Castellanos recently made headlines during an interview with On3.com about the Seminoles' season-opener against Alabama.

“I’m excited, man," Castellanos said. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast. I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them.

"I just don’t see them stopping me.”

Castellanos' new teammates have also rallied behind their quarterback following the interview.

Castellanos was profiled during the football program's recent in-house documentary "The Climb" that takes viewers behind the scenes.

"He’s a natural playmaker,” FSU receiver Duce Robinson said. “He’s one of the most athletic guys on this team. He makes some throws where it makes you put your head in your hands. Just like, ‘Man, like, how can you do this?’"

Norvell also praised Castellanos' leadership skills during the documentary.

"He’s really poured so much into the guys around him,” Norvell said. “Getting to know them, allowing them to get to know him. Just spending that time. ... and I think Tommy is doing a wonderful job of earning that respect since he’s come here.”

Castellanos, a senior, transferred to FSU after two seasons at Boston College and one at UCF. He has appeared in 21 games, with 20 starts at BC in 2023-24.

Castellanos was the first player in BC history with 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a single-season (2023).

He started eight of BC's first nine games last year before he left the team after being benched.
