The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked as the second-best SEC team in the preseason coaches poll behind Texas
The Georgia Bulldogs are less than a month away from their season opener against the Marshall Thundering Herd on Aug. 30. Georgia opens the 2025 college football season as the No. 4 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Georgia is ranked behind the No. 1 Texas Longhorns, the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions. Georgia received three first-place votes, which is the fourth-most in the country. Texas (28), Ohio State (20) and Penn State (14) all received more first place votes. Clemson (two) is the only other team to receive first-place votes. Their is no consensus dominant No. 1 team in America entering the 2025 season, so this should be another fun year of college football.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to host a trio of top-15 opponents at home this season. Georgia is set to play No. 1 Texas, No. 8 Alabama and No. 15 Ole Miss in Athens. The Dawgs will also play No. 17 Florida (neutral) and No. 18 Tennessee (road) this fall. In-state rival Georgia Tech also received votes. Georgia is scheduled to play five total ranked opponents.
Georgia is coming off a 2024 season where they went 11-3 and won the SEC, but lost in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals to Notre Dame. Georgia is expected to start redshirt junior quarterback Gunner Stockton this season.
