Barcelona put special plan in place to work on Lamine Yamal’s two weaknesses

According to a recent update from SPORT, Barcelona have mapped out a targeted development plan for Lamine Yamal, with manager Hansi Flick taking a hands-on role in overseeing the youngster’s progress.

The focus is to improve his weaker right foot and sharpen his finishing ability in front of the goal.

It is no secret that Yamal is still a work in progress, and both the club and the player know it. Despite already proving himself as a key attacking weapon with his brilliant left foot, the winger is determined to take his game to the next level.

That means polishing areas of his skillset that still need refining, especially his less dominant right foot.

Determined to strengthen his weak side

Throughout Barcelona’s pre-season tour, Yamal has been putting in the extra hours to strengthen his right-footed play.

Whether it is in shooting drills, one-on-one scenarios, or finishing sequences, he’s been consistently working to transform what was once his weakness into a new weapon.

Flick and his staff have noticed. The German manager is closely monitoring this part of Yamal’s development, regularly analysing how the youngster executes movements, connects passes, and cuts past defenders.

The outlet assures that in training sessions, Yamal has already started scoring impressive goals with his right foot.

There are signs already

One standout moment came in the match against FC Seoul, when Yamal left a defender on the floor with a clever right-footed cutback before finishing the move with his trusted left foot.

That sequence alone showed how the winger is starting to blend both feet with greater harmony, adding more unpredictability to his game.

For Flick, this is not just about short-term improvements, it is about preparing Yamal for the long haul.

He wants the young forward to become a more complete player, one who can score, create, and confuse defenders no matter which side he attacks from. And the early signs are encouraging.
