2025 White Marlin Open: Live updates from Day 1 of the famous Ocean City fishing tournament

Day 1 of the 2025 White Marlin Open has officially kicked off. Follow along here for live updates from the first day of the annual fishing competition.

The 2025 White Marlin Open has officially arrived, as boats full of anglers have gone fishing this morning in hopes of reeling in a big catch and the big cash prizes that could come along with it. And just like every other year of the tournament, hundreds of boats will be competing for White Marlin Open glory, and hopefully providing plenty of thrills to the fans following along at the scales at the Harbour Island Marina.

One of the biggest events of each Ocean City summer, the world's largest billfish tournament is set to take place this week. And anglers will be looking to sit at the top of the leaderboard in the white marlin, blue marlin, tuna, dolphin, wahoo and swordfish categories, as they try to catch the biggest qualifying fish amongst the rest of the competition.

After originally being scheduled to take place from Monday to Friday, the White Marlin Open announced over the weekend that the tournament would be extended to Sunday, Aug. 10, with two extra fishing days being added for anglers due to offshore weather conditions.

Austin Craig on the Whiskey Kilo brought in a 185.5 pound tuna on the fourth day of the White Marlin Open Thursday, Aug 8, 2024, in Ocean City, Maryland.
