Indiana Fever Stars Make WNBA History on Friday Without Caitlin Clark

No Caitlin Clark, no problem.

Indiana Fever Stars Make WNBA History on Friday Without Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Caitlin Clark watched from the sidelines again on Friday night as the Indiana Fever secured an impressive 88-78 win against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings. This was Clark’s sixth straight game out as she continues to deal with a lingering groin injury.

Aliyah Boston, Natasha Howard Make WNBA History

Amid Clark’s absence, it was players such as Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard who stepped up against the Wings. In fact, the two Fever stars combined to make history with their stat-stuffing performances.

Boston dropped a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double with five assists, three steals and a block. Howard, on the other hand, registered 11 points, a career-high 16 rebounds, five dimes, two steals and a block.

According to Across the Timeline, this is the first time in WNBA history that a set of teammates has logged at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the same game.

Kelsey Mitchell Delivers for Fever

It wasn’t just Boston and Howard who came up big for the Fever on Friday night. It was, in fact, Kelsey Mitchell who was arguably the best player on the floor against Dallas.

Mitchell bounced back from her forgettable outing against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday by dropping a game-high 23 points on 9-of-19 shooting, to go along with three rebounds, three assists, and three triples in 33 minutes of action.

That’s now a season-high four straight wins for the Fever, who have been performing significantly well despite Clark’s absence. Up next for them is the Seattle Storm on Sunday, which will be the second matchup out of their current four-game road trip.
