Galatasaray have opened talks to sign Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu (31), according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Turkish club, in the market for reinforcements in their midfield, had attempted to sign Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan. Despite reaching an agreement with the player, an agreement could not be found with the Premier League side. Galatasaray have therefore gone after an alternative target – Çalhanoğlu.
Inter Milan open to departure this summer
The Turkey international, recently the subject of criticism from his own captain, Lautaro Martinez, is not certain to remain at Inter Milan this summer, unlike this time last year when Bayern Munich made a concrete approach. The Serie A side are open to the player leaving. His deal with the Italian side runs until the summer of 2027.
L’Équipe understands that Galatasaray, recently crowned Turkish champions, have now opened talks to sign Çalhanoğlu, who has 97 caps for the Turkey national team.
