In a recent report, L’Equipe provided an update on the future of Barcelona defender Hector Fort. It has been mentioned that Paris FC are showing interest in signing the gifted full-back from the Catalan club this summer.
Fort’s Important Role At The Nou Camp Last Season
Fort served as a solid rotational piece in Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s match-day squad in the previous campaign. The Spanish talent participated in 21 matches for the Catalan giants last season in various competitions.
The 19-year-old managed to shine at times on the defensive end of the field as he made 13 tackles, 12 blocks and six interceptions in La Liga. He was even careful when distributing possession from the back after completing 90.1% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current deal at the Nou Camp will run out at the end of next season. Thus, Flick would have to cash in on him this summer or else risk losing him on a free transfer in 2026.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Cut Fort Loose This Summer?
Fort is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is an accurate passer of the ball as well.
Standing at 1.85m, the Spanish talent is a strong presence in the air. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time before he can be a consistent performer in top-flight football.
Fort has served as a useful squad player for the Catalan club. At 19, he has the potential to be a future star in Spanish football as long as he continues to improve with each year. However, he needs to ensure regular first-team starts if he wants to grow as a footballer. Hence, it is only fair to the player if Barcelona cut him loose before the end of this transfer window.
Flick would be wise to use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of his match-day squad before the start of the new La Liga campaign.
