The Sacramento Kings entered the NBA offseason needing to address their hole at the point guard position.

Of course, the Kings created the hole at the point guard position last season at the trade deadline when they sent De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs.

So far this summer, the Kings have added only one point guard to their roster as they landed Dennis Schroder in free agency via a sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Schroder is now set to enter next season as the starting point guard in Sacramento, though the Kings are reportedly still looking to add another veteran guard to their roster before next season.

One player the Kings are reportedly targeting in free agency is former MVP Russell Westbrook and they received a massive update on Friday.

According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, the Kings are hoping to acquire both Westbrook and Jonathan Kuminga and because of this, Westbrook is waiting for the Kuminga situation to unfold before he signs with the Kings.

This is a massive report by Sidery and one that has been a continued theme of the offseason as yet another player is awaiting a resolution to the situation between Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors.

Of course, the Warriors have not made any moves this offseason as they await an end to the Kuminga saga and now the Kings are in the same boat with Westbrook as the veteran guard is waiting for Sacramento to make their move.

If the Kings are able to land Kuminga from the Warriors and sign Westbrook in free agency, it would be a massive move for them to upgrade their roster.

Kuminga could start or come off the bench as another young piece for the Kings to build around for the future while Westbrook would fill their void at the backup point guard position.

Either way, it appears as though the Kings and Westbrook are looking to get a deal done before next season with Kuminga standing in the way of it currently.
