One 31-year-old New York Yankees pitcher's time with the team could be coming to an end after the season.
The New York Yankees went out at the trade deadline and added three pitchers to help in the backend of the bullpen. The team acquired David Bednar, Jake Bird, and Camilo Doval.
The three pitchers are now going to play a massive role in a Yankees team that is looking to win their first World Series since 2009.
New York just didn't acquire Bednar, Bird, and Doval for this season, but also for years to come. All three pitchers have years of control after this season, so they won't be leaving the Yankees for a while.
Since the Yankees will have three new arms in the bullpen for years to come, that means some veterans who have been on the team could be gone next year.
Relief pitcher Luke Weaver has been with the Yankees for the last three years, and Stephen Parello from Fansided thinks it's time with New York is coming to an end.

"Much of what can be said about Devin Williams' future in pinstripes also applies to Luke Weaver. Since making his way to the Bronx as a waiver claim in September of 2023, Weaver has served in various roles for the Bombers. He started three games upon his arrival, before transitioning to a multi-inning weapon in 2024, eventually ascending to take the mantle of closer amid Clay Holmes' struggles, something he'd repeat this season after Williams' horrid start," Parello wrote. Unfortunately, a 6.60 ERA since returning from the IL on June 20 has tanked what started as a dominant season for Weaver, and now throws his future in doubt. In addition to Bednar and Doval, the Yankees also acquired Jake Bird from the Colorado Rockies, who, despite some real performance question marks, is under team control through 2028."
Weaver's $2 million contract will come to an end this season, and with him being 31 years old, about to turn 32, the Yankees will likely want to get younger for next season.
