Rangers started their 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign today with a 1-1 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park, and manager Russell Martin was not a happy man after the match. Rangers captain James Tavernier put the visitors ahead 14 minutes into the game, but the Ibrox club were unable to leave with all three points as they were pegged back in the 87th minute. It was far from an impressive performance from the Gers, and it is not an ideal way to begin a new season.
Martin was displeased with what he saw from Rangers, making his feelings very clear after the game and blasting some of his players.

Chris Sutton was impressed with the frankness of the Light Blues boss, taking to social media platform X to react thus to it.
This is remarkable…I’ve never seen an interview like it after one game… but most of it is true… https://t.co/uamMqfQmwd

Rangers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Viktoria Plzen in the first-leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, and Martin will be expecting an instant response from his men.
