The USC Trojans have their wide receivers Ja'Kobi Lane and Makai Lemon drawing NFL hype. Yet one assistant coach handed a little known weapon a league comparison.

USC will need to replace Woody Marks in the backfield. Waymond Jordan isn't even projected to start as RB1 for USC.

However, Anthony Jones didn't hesitate to rave about the junior college transfer. The Trojans running back coach gave a glowing review of Jordan via Ryan Kartje of the Los Angeles Times.

"He’s a complete RB. I think he can do it all," Jones said.

Jones then shared Jordan is "comparable" to past RBs he coached.

"I’ve coached several RB’s in the NFL now, and he’s very comparable to all those guys," Jones said.

Who represents the list of Sunday backs Jones produced? Tony Pollard is one -- who's now a 1,000-yard rusher for the Tennessee Titans. Pollard also became a Pro Bowl back for the Dallas Cowboys before signing his 2024 deal with Tennessee.

Jones also tutored and coached Kendre Miller when he was at TCU. Miller landed in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft to the New Orleans Saints.

Jordan arrived as a spring transfer from Hutchinson Community College. He earned 2024 NJCAA DI Football Offensive Player of the Year. The 5-foot-9 Pensacola, Fla., native tallied 1,614 yards on 218 carries.

Jones loves what he's seen. Even Lincoln Riley dished a glowing review during USC's media day.

"Waymond came across our radar screen from a former contact in the business. We watched him, and we said look, we may not necessarily need the number, but this guy's a good enough player to take," Riley explained via 247Sports. "Sometimes you bust through your numbers when you feel like someone is good enough, and we felt like he was."

Riley added how he became "super impressed" with Jordan's development and "made an impact right away" during the spring. He'll now compete with senior Eli Sanders and sophomore Bryan Jackson for RB1 duties.
