Just as they get one starting pitcher back, the Chicago Cubs lose another, as Jameson Taillon has gone on the injured list.
It seems that just when things are starting to look up for the Chicago Cubs, they get hit with another block in the road. This time, Jameson Taillon is the victim, as the starting pitcher was placed on the injured list.
On a day in which they made history in a win over the St. Louis Cardinals, Taillon was sent to the sidelines for an extended period of time with a right calf strain. The 33-year-old was hurt running his last wind sprint after a bullpen session on Thursday.
"He's going to miss a pretty significant amount of time," Chicago manager Craig Counsell said (thanks to ESPN for the quotes).

The Cubs are expecting Taillon to be sidelined for at least a month. They just got fellow starter Shoto Imanaga back from a hamstring injury.
Taillon is 7-6 with a 4.44 earned run average over 17 starts this year. The team recalled another lefty to replace Taillon in Jordan Wicks from Triple-A Iowa. Wicks made 12 appearances with 11 starts in the minors, striking out 46 with a 1-3 record.
Chris Flexen could also be moved from the bullpen as the Cubs look into acquiring more arms before the trade deadline on July 31.
