Alabama saw over 20+ players transfer out of the program this past offseason. Here is where each will play in 2025.
During this past offseason, the Alabama Crimson Tide saw a significant number of players depart the program via the NCAA transfer portal.
In all, over 20+ players transferred out of Alabama to new programs this past offseason, all of which came during the winter window.
Of those 20, there were multiple players who started at Alabama during the 2024 season, some of which were key names at prominent positions. There are also many household names across college football in this group, as well as others who could potentially emerge this upcoming fall.
Here is where every Alabama transfer from this past offseason is set to play college football in 2025, as well as a look at what their role could be this season with each's respective new team.
Dylan Lonergan, Quarterback - Boston College Eagles
Lonergan heads to the ACC this season where he will suit up for Boston College under former Alabama assistant Bill O'Brien, while also competing for the starting quarterback job. During his time at Alabama from 2023-24, Lonergan completed 7-of-8 passes for 35 yards, while also rushing for 21 yards on two attempts.
Justice Haynes, Running Back - Michigan Wolverines
One of the biggest names to transfer from Alabama this past offseason, Haynes heads to the Big Ten where he will be one of Michigan's top running backs this fall. At Alabama from 2023-24, Haynes rushed for a total of 616 yards and nine touchdowns on 104 attempts, while also hauling in 17 receptions for 99 yards.
JR Gardner, Running Back - Alabama State Hornets
Gardner will remain in-state this season to play for Alabama State where he will look to breakout with the Hornets. During his two seasons at Alabama in 2023-24, Gardner rushed for five yards on two attempts.
Kendrick Law, Wide Receiver - Kentucky Wildcats
Law will remain in the SEC this upcoming season where the wide receiver is set to become of the top options at the position for Kentucky. Across three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Law recorded 343 yards and a touchdown over 33 receptions from 2022-24, while also rushing for 30 yards on eight attempts, as well as returning 22 kickoffs for 536 yards.
Kobe Prentice, Wide Receiver - Baylor Bears
Among the most productive transfers to depart Alabama this past offseason was Prentice, who heads to the Big 12 where he will be a top option for Baylor in 2025. Over three seasons at Alabama from 2022-24, Prentice hauled in a total of 60 receptions for 780 yards and five touchdowns.
Caleb Odom, Wide Receiver - Ole Miss Rebels
Odom will remain in the SEC this upcoming season, suiting up for Ole Miss where he is expected to be a potential breakout candidate. At Alabama for only one season in 2024, Odom hauled in seven receptions for 65 yards.
Emmanuel Henderson Jr., Wide Receiver - Kansas Jayhawks
Henderson heads to the Big 12 where he will play for Kansas, setting the stage for a potential breakout season as one of the Jayhawks' top receiving options. At Alabama from 2022-24, Henderson hauled in five receptions for 96 yards across three seasons, while also returning six kickoffs for 115 yards, as well as making nine tackles on special teams.
Jaren Hamilton, Wide Receiver - Arizona State Sun Devils
Hamilton will suit up for Arizona State in the Big 12 this fall where he could be among the Sun Devils' top receivers. Over two seasons in Tuscaloosa from 2023-24, Hamilton did not record any stats.
Amari Jefferson, Wide Receiver - Tennessee Volunteers
Jefferson remains within the SEC where he will suit up for Tennessee this fall, looking for a breakout season. During the 2024 season as a true freshman, Jefferson did not see action with Alabama.
Elijah Pritchett, Offensive Tackle - Nebraska Cornhuskers
After a breakout campaign a year ago as Alabama's starting right tackle, Pritchett heads to the Big Ten this season where he is expected to start at Nebraska. At Alabama for three seasons from 2022-24, Pritchett saw time every year along the offensive line, one of which came as a starter.
Miles McVay, Offensive Tackle - North Carolina Tar Heels
McVay heads to the ACC where he will suit up for North Carolina this fall. At North Carolina, McVay, who served as a backup during his two seasons at Alabama in 2023-24, could potentially compete for a starting spot.
Naquil Betrand, Offensive Tackle - Syracuse Orange
Betrand will play in the ACC this upcoming season where he could see time at Syracuse. The offensive lineman did not see action during his lone season at Alabama in 2024.
Ty Lockwood, Tight End - Boston College Eagles
Lockwood will be a teammate of the aforementioned Lonergan in the ACC this season where he will play at Boston College as a potential impact tight end. Across his two seasons at Alabama from 2023-24, Lockwood had only one reception for five yards.
Jehiem Oatis, Defensive Tackle - Colorado Buffaloes
Among the biggest named defensive transfers from Alabama this past offseason was Oatis, who will be an instant impact starter this season in the Big 12 at Colorado. Oatis was an impact player along Alabama's defensive front during his time in Tuscaloosa, compiling 57 tackles, three TFL, and 1.5 sacks across three seasons from 2022-24.
Damon Payne, Defensive Tackle - Michigan Wolverines
Payne heads to the Big Ten this fall where he will look to breakout for Michigan in 2025. At Alabama for four seasons from 2021-24, Payne amassed a combined 30 tackles, three TFL, 0.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries.
Hunter Osborne, Defensive Tackle - Virginia Cavaliers
Osborne, after two seasons at Alabama in 2023-24, heads to the ACC where he will suit up for Virginia this season. The defensive lineman will look for a breakout season after compiling only three tackles at Alabama.
Keanu Koht, Outside Linebacker - Vanderbilt Commodores
Koht will remain in the SEC this season at Vanderbilt where he is most likely expected to breakout as one of the top outside linebackers for the Commodores this fall. Across four seasons at Alabama from 2021-24, Koht compiled a total of nine tackles, three TFL, 0.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
Jayshawn Ross, Outside Linebacker - Kansas State Wildcats
Ross heads to the Big 12 this season where he is a depth option at outside linebacker for Kansas State. The outside linebacker did not compile any stats during his lone season at Alabama in 2024.
Justin Okoronkwo, Inside Linebacker - South Carolina Gamecocks
After only a season at Alabama, Okoronkwo transfers within the SEC where he will suit up for South Carolina this fall, likely set to make an impact at inside linebacker. In 2024, Okoronkwo racked up 14 tackles and one TFL at Alabama.
Sterling Dixon, Inside Linebacker - NC State Wolfpack
Dixon heads to the ACC at NC State after spending a season at Alabama in 2024, and is likely to play a depth role in 2025. At Alabama, Dixon had one tackle.
Jeremiah Alexander, Inside Linebacker - Clemson Tigers
After multiple seasons at Alabama, Alexander heads to the ACC where is likely expected to breakout at Clemson in a potential prominent role. With the Crimson Tide from 2022-24, Alexander had 11 tackles.
Jahlil Hurley, Cornerback - Kansas Jayhawks
Hurley heads to the Big 12 this season where he will play a depth role at cornerback for Kansas, looking to breakout with the Jayhawks. At Alabama for two seasons from 2023-24, Hurley had one tackle.
DeVonta Smith, Safety - Notre Dame Fighting Irish
After emerging as a starter a year ago for Alabama, Smith will play at Notre Dame this fall where he will fill a similar role in 2025 for the Fighting Irish. Across his four seasons at Alabama from 2021-24, Smith had a combined 36 tackles, one TFL, and one forced fumble.
King Mack, Safety - Penn State Nittany Lions
Mack transferred back to Penn State in the Big Ten this past offseason where he could see time with the Nittany Lions after spending a year at Alabama. In 2024, Mack had 14 tackles for the Crimson Tide.
