The Bulls would have to buy the center out.
Reports have indicated that the Chicago Bulls may have to buy out Nikola Vucevic at some point next season if the team can't agree on a deal to send him to a different team.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the Bulls haven't exactly been the best when it comes to trades. However, having Vucevic on the buyout market could change things for some teams around the league.
While it wouldn't help the Bulls, the Philadelphia 76ers, for example, could view him as the perfect addition next to Joel Embiid or off the bench.
FanSided’s Nicolas Kyle Pring recently noted that the 76ers should be ecstatic that the Bulls might have to buy him out at some point over the next year, noting that he'd be a perfect addition to take the load off Embiid.
“Having said that, Vucevic would be a dream short-term acquisition for a team like the 76ers, which will not need him to do the heavy lifting as he did in Chicago.
“The 76ers desperately need to ease the load on Embiid, and installing Vucevic as his backup qould heavily incentivize the coaching staff into reducing the former’s minutes and workload as much as possible,” Pring wrote.
Given all of the injuries Embiid has dealt with throughout his career, there's reason to believe that Vucevic could be a great addition.
It’d be in the Bulls' best interest to try to get something in return, even if it's a second-round pick and a young player, or whatever it has to be to make salaries work.
In this scenario, the 76ers would be getting him for nothing.
