John Daly II made his PGA Tour debut at the Puerto Rico Open, shooting 2 under and then planning a trip to the beach.
Most of the golf world's attention is on the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but the PGA Tour has an opposite-field event going on this week as well.
The Puerto Rico Open started Thursday, and it features a 120-man field that's loaded with up-and-comers. That includes John Daly II, who's making his PGA Tour debut.
Daly signed for a 2-under 70 at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, and at the time, that was good enough for a tie for 13th. The leader is Chandler Blanchet at 8 under. Daly sounds pleased with his round.
"It was good," he said. "Got off to a good start, made a nice birdie on 1. Solid up-and-down on 2, made about a 20-footer for par, which is nice, settled me in. And then just hit some good shots. Feel like I left a few out there, but I made it up with just a couple good saves and nice chip-in on 16."

Playing in the early wave gave Daly some free time in the afternoon on Thursday. He was then quite honest when asked if he was going to work on his game.
"I would say I'd go hit balls, but I'm a little tired so I'm just probably going to go to the beach and probably do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day," he said.
