Wills sat out all of last season to recover from knee injuries.
Ahead of NFL Free Agency, the New England Patriots have met with offensive tackle Jedrick Wills, according to multiple reports.
The 10th overall pick out of Alabama in 2020, Wills went on to start 57 games — primarily at left tackle — over five years for the Cleveland Browns. Wills dealt with knee issues throughout his career that limited him to just 13 games in 2023 and 2024.
He then decided to sit out for the entirety of last season to continue his recovery, but “fully expects” to sign with a new team for next season, according to Jordan Schultz.
New England has familiarity with the soon-to-be 27-year old, as head coach Mike Vrabel spent the 2024 season with the Browns as a consultant — where he closely worked with the offensive line.
Entering the offseason, Vrabel and Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf have been firm in their stance that 2025 4th overall pick Will Campbell will remain as the team’s left tackle. Wolf shared the expectation is Morgan Moses will return next season at right tackle.
But with Moses entering his age 35 season, and top backups Vederian Lowe and Thayer Munford Jr. on expiring contracts, offensive tackle remains a need this offseason.
“Is offensive tackle a need, you know, Vederian [Lowe’s] a free agent. Thayer [Munford] is a free agent and Morgan [Moses] is 35 years old,” Wolf said at the NFL Combine. “He played awesome this year, but he’s 35 years old. So, tackle would be a need for our team.”
Wills will reportedly meet with the Detroit Lions and other as visits continue next week.
