Real Madrid believe Mbappe will return in time for Man City clash at Etihad – report

Real Madrid are cautiously optimistic that Kylian Mbappe could return in time for the crucial second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Manchester City.

According to an update shared by journalist Santi Aouna, the Spanish giants are targeting the return leg of the tie, scheduled for March 17, as the possible comeback date for their star forward.

It must be noted that Mbappe has been dealing with a knee injury that has kept him sidelined for several weeks. 

Because of the problem, the French international has already missed Real Madrid’s last two matches, leaving the team without one of its most important attacking players.

A focused recovery

The situation has understandably caused frustration for the player, particularly regarding the way the injury has been managed in recent weeks. 

In order to gain a clearer understanding of his physical condition, Mbappe recently travelled to Paris to undergo further medical assessments.

There had been speculation that the forward might require surgery to resolve the issue, but his camp quickly dismissed that possibility for now. 

Those close to the player have insisted that there is no plan for any surgical intervention at this stage. Instead, Mbappe is currently focusing on recovery and rehabilitation.

While in Paris, the striker has been working closely with Real Madrid’s fitness staff following additional medical tests that confirmed the original diagnosis. 

The goal is to accelerate his recovery while ensuring that the injury does not worsen.

Real Madrid are particularly eager to have Mbappe available because the squad has recently suffered several injury setbacks. 

One of the biggest blows has been the long-term absence of Rodrygo, which has reduced the team’s attacking options.

Because of this situation, the club needs Mbappe ready for the decisive Champions League match against Manchester City.

The second leg of the tie will be played at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, a game that could determine whether Real Madrid progress further in the competition.

Although returning on time will not be easy, Mbappe himself reportedly understands the importance of the match and is determined to contribute if possible.
