New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs confirmed reports of his impending release on Wednesday.
Diggs, taking to social media just minutes after the initial report, posted two stories to Instagram, with the first saying "THANK YOU for a hell of a year. We family forever @Patriots" and the second saying "until we meet again... 8."

Diggs, 32, signed a three-year contract in free agency last offseason, but ends his tenure after playing just one season in which he amassed 85 receptions, 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns -- with the impending release set to save the organization from his cap charge spiking from $10.5 millions to $26.5 million. The Patriots are expected to be in the market for wide receiver help this offseason, whether it be via free agency or trade.
Diggs is facing strangulation and assault charges after an alleged physical altercation with his personal chef in December -- he pleaded not guilty to felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery during his arraignment on Feb. 13, and is due for another pre-trial hearing on April 1.
