Michael Carrick has made just one change to his starting XI for tonight’s clash with Newcastle United, with Diogo Dalot making way for Noussair Mazraoui.

It comes after fans at Old Trafford were heard voicing their frustrations over the Portugal international’s sloppiness against Crystal Palace.

“There were audible moans at some of Dalot’s passes from United fans on Sunday. Mazraoui also possibly fresher, having played more than 45 minutes on Saturday. Another game where Carrick restricts himself to one change,” said Samuel Luckhurst on X/Twitter following confirmation of Manchester United’s line-up.

Elsewhere, Benjamin Sesko has deservedly retained his place, having now found the back of the net seven times in his last eight appearances across all competitions.

It means Amad Diallo will be limited to making an impact off the bench, presumably in the second half.

Thankfully for Carrick, both Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were cleared to start after they were substituted early in the win over Palace due to illness.

However, he is still without a handful of integral starters, as Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and Patrick Dorgu are all absent.

Fans were somewhat blindsided by Martinez’s injury setback; he played the full 90 minutes of the draw with West Ham and finished with no issues before he sustained a calf problem in training, which has led to him missing three matches – including the Magpies encounter.

In regard to the hosts’ side, Aaron Ramsdale has replaced Nick Pope in the aftermath of Newcastle’s 3-2 home defeat to Everton, while Nick Woltemade misses out through sickness.

Eddie Howe is also without captain Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Livramento, Lewis Miley, Emil Krafth and Fabian Schar.
