Chelsea and world class £250k a week star have obvious solution to contract talks

Reece James has been playing regularly and well for Chelsea, and the time has come to talk about a new long term contract.

TeamTalk are claiming that Chelsea are talking with captain Reece James about a new long term contract.

James appreciates how the club supported him through his injury problems, and the sources quotes says that the deal is considered a matter of “when, not if” due to the “unparalleled” relationship between the club and the fans.

James’ contract is a very interesting case. According to most estimates, he’s the Blues’ best paid player, on £250k a week on a deal signed way back in 2022.

For a long time since then, that deal looked like a disaster, as he missed so much time injured. However he’s now been fit and playing for almost 18 months, and we all know how good and how important he is. He’s grown into a leader, and has repeatedly shown his versatility this season.

He’s certainly worth that money when he’s on the pitch. And he’s proved his fitness for an extended period now, having made more appearances this season than any since 2021/2022. To us, the obvious solution is just to keep him on that wage and add more years.
