The Hoosiers beat down the Nittany Lions at home on Saturday afternoon.
Indiana women’s basketball ended the regular season with a bang, beating down Penn State 93-59 at home behind a scoring outburst from its backcourt.
Two Hoosier true freshmen stepped up for a team that’s still missing starting center Zania Socka-Nguemen. Nevaeh Caffey scored 18 points on 6-12 shooting from the field, including 1-3 from 3-point range, while Maya Makalusky added 15 on a 5-10 clip, including 3-8 from beyond the arc. Shay Ciezki, as usual, led all Hoosiers in scoring with 29 points on 12-18 shooting.
Indiana got a boost from an avalanche of a first quarter, outscoring Penn State 31-8 across the game’s first ten minutes. That scoring was spread between Ciezki, Caffey, Makalusky and others as the Nittany Lions combined to shoot just 3-17 from the field.
The Hoosiers currently sit at 13th in the Big Ten Standings and will play in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday.
