Jimmy Haslam makes a bold prediction!
Browns Owner Jimmy Haslam Makes Blunt Arch Manning Prediction Amid Rumored Interest originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Cleveland Browns have one of the most robust quarterback rooms in the country. However, that didn't stop rumors of Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning being an interest for the team from popping up.
Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has now addressed the rumors and made a prediction for the 21-year-old QB.
But still, Haslam did not talk about his budding quarterback room as a defense for shutting down the Manning rumors; instead, he put the onus on the young QB and his family, keeping the doors open.
Talking to the media on Tuesday, Haslam said, "If you know the Manning family— and I don’t know Arch at all— I'd bet he stays in college two years. I don’t think that’s worth discussing."
The 71-year-old billionaire sees Manning staying the course and not entering the draft in the near future. Both his uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, completed all four years of college, which lends one to believe that Arch will follow the same pattern.
However, college football has changed a lot since then. There are some quarterbacks who are getting more exposure and notoriety playing in college.
At the same time, college football is getting increasingly competitive, and the schedule's just going to get tougher. If his college career starts hampering his professional career, who knows which path Manning might take.
The Cleveland Browns have historically not handled their quarterbacks very well. Baker Mayfield is a prime example of a player who did much better after he moved on from the Browns.
Their offensive coordinator position has also been under duress for a long time now. On top of this all, they have Shedeur Sanders, Dillion Gabriel, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett. Deshaun Watson is also somewhere in there, working on getting back on the field.
In such a crowded environment, even two years from now, it looks like they won't be one of the suitable matches for Manning. Given what his uncle Eli pulled at the draft, those chances look even slimmer.
