Fans across the entirety of the Oklahoma City metro -- and the state of Oklahoma, for that matter -- are enjoying the summer as their local Thunder are NBA champions.

It's been 17 years coming for Thunder fans, who have shown incredible support of the club. Now, the franchise has finally captured its first title and will raise a banner for the first time since relocating to Oklahoma City with a fresh history.

With the title victory taking place just over a month ago, the city has been recognizing each player with their individual day of celebration throughout the month of July.

July 29 happens to be Jalen Williams Day in Oklahoma City -- with only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren waiting to be celebrated.

Williams has been quite vocal, asking fans to "throw something on the grill" for his teammates, and even general manager Sam Presti, owner Clay Bennett and head coach Mark Daigneault.

Now, today, fans can throw something on the grill for Williams. In response to having his own day of celebration in the city, the superstar wing took to X with a request from fans.

"THROW SUM ON THE GRILL FOR ME !!!!" Williams posted on Tuesday.

Since being selected No. 12 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Williams has climbed the ranks quickly, rapidly ascending from a young wing with potential to a superstar. He was pivotal during the Thunder's title run, too, even dropping a timely 40-point game in the NBA Finals.

Last season, Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 points per game -- leading to his first All-Star selection, All-NBA selection, All-Defensive selection and even a $287 million payday.

The 24-year-old will help Oklahoma City remain in contention for years to come. Recent odds prove the Thunder are the heavy betting favorites to repeat next season, as they're returning their same squad while boasting championship-level experience.
