Smiling, cheerful and full of excitement – that’s how Luis Díaz presented himself at his first press conference at Säbener Straße on Thursday afternoon. “I'm very happy to be here in Munich at this great club,” said the 27-year-old Colombian. “My first impressions were very good. I've been welcomed very warmly and and look forward to getting to know my new team-mates better.”
‘FC Bayern fit perfectly with my aims’
Díaz explained why he chose to sign for the German record champions. “FC Bayern fit perfectly with my aims. I wanted to move to a big, ambitious team – this club has incredible history. We want to win everything. My aim is to help the club and have success as quickly as possible."

On his role in the team, the versatile attacker said: “I can play up front or on the wing. The coach has told me he sees me preferably on the left side, but I'll play where I'm needed. I want to help the team, that's the priority." Board member for sport Max Eberl also sees the new arrival “more on the wing”, but praised his versatility and also the option to play him through the middle.
Information from Florian Wirtz
Díaz has already got an initial insight into German football from Germany international Florian Wirtz. The ex-Leverkusen man joined Liverpool this summer, the club where Díaz had been since 2022 and where he scored 41 goals in 148 competitive appearances. “He told me that the Bundesliga has a high intensity, comparable to the Premier League,” revealed the new arrival about his conversation with Wirtz. “And that the stadiums are always full. Florian wished me a lot of luck."

Luis Díaz already trained with his new FC Bayern team-mates on Wednesday and Thursday.
The tricky forward is particularly looking forward to linking up with his new attacking colleagues. “Harry Kane is a fantastic striker with immense qualities, who'll support me a lot,” added Díaz. “Michael Olise has similar qualities to me. I’ll learn a lot from those two and also the other players like Manuel Neuer. I'm very happy to share a dressing room with them.”
Bayern fans can therefore get excited about a fired-up and hungry new signing, who wants to give his all from day one to celebrate titles together with the team.
