Patrick Dorgu continued his fine pre-season with an outstanding display versus AFC Bournemouth as Manchester United ran out 4-1 winners.
Mixed debut season
Dorgu joined from Lecce at the end of January in the middle of an incredibly tumultuous season at Old Trafford.
Understandably, the 20-year-old had his up and down moments during the campaign.
He particularly impressed in the Europa League, showing some fantastic bursts of energy down the left hand side.
Nonetheless, his naivety was occasionally exploited in the Premier League.
Impressive pre-season continues
Dorgu has been one of the standout performers so far this pre-season and he arguably had his best showing in a United shirt tonight.
The Danish international was a major threat, predominantly in the first half, causing the Bournemouth defence all sorts of problems.
When the Cherries attacked it was usually down United’s right as they got little change from the dynamic Dane.
End product on show
Whilst he often got into dangerous positions during his first few months at Old Trafford, he would often fluff his lines by snatching at a shot or over-hitting a cross.
This was not the case tonight as he looked a lot slicker and menacing in attack.
He created the first goal for his compatriot Rasmus Hojlund by cutting in on his right foot and delivering an inch perfect cross for the striker to glance in.
Not content with only this, he bombed forward later on in the first half and scored his first goal for the club.
Regularly taking up high positions up the pitch, he broke free of the Bournemouth defence after a clever quick free kick by Mason Mount.
He then held off the defender and slotted the ball into the net to give the Red Devils a 2-0 lead.
Dorgu will hope to continue his fine form against Everton on Sunday night in the last game of the American tour.
