It has been an interesting offseason thus far for the Sacramento Kings as they have made additions to their roster to chase a playoff spot in the Western Conference next season.
This was a surprise to many around the NBA, especially after Sacramento traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at last season’s trade deadline, as many believed the Kings could start a rebuild or would at least move on from one or two of their stars.
Instead, the Kings have gone all-in on chasing a playoff spot next year as they added Dennis Schroder in free agency to address their void at the point guard position and also traded Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets for Dario Saric.
While the move to add Schroder was a solid one, the Kings still lack true point guard depth and it is expected that they will add another veteran guard to address that problem this summer.
One player who has continued to be linked to Sacramento in free agency is former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook.
According to Bovada, the Kings are the favorite (+150) to sign Westbrook this summer in free agency to bolster their point guard depth.

The New York Knicks (+350), Milwaukee Bucks (+400) and Miami Heat (+600) were also listed as potential landing spots.
For Westbrook, he is no longer the MVP caliber player that he once was but he proved last season with the Nuggets that he can still be a key piece off the bench for a contending team.
Because of this, he would be a solid fit off the bench for the Kings and if Schroder struggles in his starting role, Westbrook could eventually become the starting point guard for Sacramento next season.
Despite this, the Kings could also look elsewhere to add another point guard to their roster but they would likely be able to land Westbrook on a veteran’s minimum contract that could work in their favor next season.
